Jubilees are occasions to be celebrated, recalling the marvelous ways in which the school has fulfilled its mission of imparting value based education and by building leaders who can bring about a culture of peace and love.
15th June 2019,was a remarkable day as two great foundations St. Xavier’s High School, Gandhinagar and Mount Carmel, Gandhinagar stepped into their 50th glorious year; A plethora of exciting events will spread all over year, making it one of the most festive and memorable year in the history of both the schools.
To celebrate 50 years of glories and achievements, a parade was arranged from sector 20,as it is the place where both great institutions started their divine mission of educating the young minds.
To light up the world with the love of the Lord a torch as a symbol of excellence was received by the Ex-retired teachers, followed by the Principals, 25 ex-students and 75 runners and cycled of St. Xavier’s and Mount Carmel Gandhinagar. The torch was finally received at St. Xavier’s High School Gandhinagar followed by a rainbow of cultural programme.
The programme began with a prayer dance requesting the Almighty to shower his blessings, which was presented by the students of Mount Carmel School soon after that.
Reverent Father Durai Fernand (S.J.) the principal of St. Xavier’s Gandhinagar welcomed and escorted our chief guest Honourable Shri O. P. Kohli Honourable Governor shri of Gujarat on the stage and felicitated him with a bouquet of flowers and a momento.There were many dignitaries who where felicitated with a bouquet of flowers and mementos and they are Right Rev. Bishop Thomas, Rev. Father Francis Parmar the Provincial Rev. Father Durai Fernand (Principal of St .Xavier’s School), Rev. Sister Jennifer Gomas (Principal of Mount Carmel School) and Rev. Sister Humbelina (Manager of Mount Carmel). and father Hector Pinto ( Ex principal of our esteemed school).The dignitaries on the stage lighted the lamp to signify the threshold of 50th year of the existence progressing from darkness to light.
The most awaited moment came when Honourable Governor Shri received the torch with the golden flame illuminating dispelling darkness from every nook and corner symbolizing peace, purity and prosperity and thus made the official beginning of the Golden Jubilee celebration. He also gave a valuable, inspiring, enriching and precious message to our students and the audience.
The cultural part of the programme began with the dazzling dances and amazing performance prepared by students that gave a glimpse of rich culture and diverse heritage. An excellent skit on spirituality, science fair-education and values, charity, save environment, etc. performed and was appreciated by the audience. . Our respected Chief guest governor gave a very encouraging and inspiring message on this auspicious occasion.. He gave his own example of being a faculty in the university of delhi for 37 years and he congratulated these great schools and their teachers students management and parents for reaching this marvelous excellence.
Rev Fr Durai feels encouraged supported enriched by the support of parents teachers students in achieving this milestone.
The programme ended with the National Anthem and the beautiful quoting-
“Jubilee beckons us now to hitch our wagons to the stars. So let us work together in unison, each doing his part joyously to make light shine in the next 50 years even more magnificently.
